Dr Karolina ZIĘBA-KULAWIK, LA, is a landscape architect with a main interest in remote sensing and 3-D LiDAR technology. She obtained Ph.D. in urban forestry at the Faculty of Forestry University of Agriculture in Krakow (UAK). She holds a degree in Landscape Architecture at UAK and a postgraduate degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Airborne and Terrestrial Laser Scanning at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. She is currently a Research Associate in the Urban Development and Mobility Department at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). Her interests relate to the urban environment, including the definition of landscape metrics and 3-D structure of urban form and ecosystem services provided by trees in aspects of urban green management, monitoring, and analyzing the dynamics of changes. At LISER, she is involved in Housing Observatory project maintained by LISER and the Ministry of Housing in Luxembourg where she detects land use changes over time and land consumption for housing. She participated in several interdisciplinary projects ("iTre-es" projects funded by NCN in Poland in collaboration with the Faculty of Sociology, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan; project "GeoCentre of Excellence" with Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan; commissioned research for State Forests and National Parks in Poland; "SusDens" project founded by FRS-FNRS-FNR in Luxembourg). She has 4 years of experience in teaching GIS and Remote Sensing for students of landscape architecture, forestry, urban forestry and geoinformatics.
